TONY I GOT IN!

However the journey is not over, it is simply the beginning.

I may of achieved my first major goal of getting into Tony's team (The Watford Course), but its just the start of a story.

I have plenty of more goals I want to achieve in my lifetime, and I am way on track with successfully getting onto my dream course.

So with no further to do the sequel to my successful blog 'Tony I want in !'. *Drum roll*

Tony I got in!

Simple and true, a title many of my friends have suggested for my new blog.

So if you want to follow my new blog of life on Tony's course, developing as a creative and trying to get into the top advertising agencies in the big bad city known as London, please follow the link.

Job Done.

A lot of things have happened in the past two months, too much of a long story to write in a blog entry.

Anyhow a long story short, I have finally achieved my dream and have been accepted into Tony's team (The Watford Course).

This blog has achieved its purpose and has gained the attention of Tony himself in the past year, following my work in progress and energy as a creative, which helped me make a strong case at the interview, eventually building up to getting me a place!

So I think if you want to know how to conduct yourself in a way to attract Tony, and make him think your right for the course, show the same degree of energy as a creative like I demonstrated on this blog, consistently posting everyday of the ideas (executions) that have came out of my head.

Concerning the interview, it was intense, don't expect a easy ride, it felt like the movie Whiplash, your on the edge, well I was!

My portfolio was destroyed by Tony in the critic, it lacked in-depth thinking, there was not range of products to stretch me, everything was the same etc.

He is hard to impress, so don't expect compliments, like he said I think it was not to accept a pat on the back in the industry, work harder instead!

Tony wants to change advertising for the better and he is not impressed with todays take on the industry, so his course supplies the students set on this mission, and that makes me sooo much more anxious to get started!

I had to look at the email 1000 times when Tony offered me a place the following day, I even pinched myself to see if I was dreaming.

The official letter had to arrive to be completely sure, and when it did come... I DID IT!!!!

I am in, finally, and this blog is a tribute to that effort, that ambition which I succeeded in.

Therefore I hope this blog serves as a guide to those hungry as I in getting into 'The Oxbridge of Advertising'.

If you want to ask me any questions on how to get onto the course, preparing yourself, even advertising stuff, I will be happy to help!

Contact me through my email 'creativebrummie@gmail.com'.

If I do not reply straight away, most likely that I am very busy, but I will try and get back to you when I can.

Also my creative test is up on the blog, so if you want any pointers on doing the whole course application thing, please use it as reference.

Thank you for reading and generally following my blog!

And all the best on your goals in life!

Cheers!

THE PITS (S.C.A. Interview)

Around the beginning of this year I did Tony's Creative Test for the Watford Creative Advertising course, sending it off, awaiting for a reply, expecting a automatic interview date as promised by the college.

Its been a while since awaiting that reply, and I began to get inpatient, which has lead me to looking at other options, just in case all does not go well!

That when I came across the secretive School of Communication Arts 2.0. I was surprised to find this school based solely around turning students into creatives fit for the top of the advertising industry, thus their focus and degree of this course is getting you a job in advertising.

The reason for being surprised was due to me thinking I had found every course around advertising in the UK, but out of the blue comes this school, so I decided after reading into it, with its strong industry links, funded by top agencies in London, taught by top creative professionals, it all added up to applying for it!

Soon after I got a phone interview with the dean 'Marc Lewis', which went successful and lead to a interview day against 7 other candidates. It was a interview not about portfolio, but concerning what made you, you, a interview that would see if you were fit for the course, a interview which I had to prepare a presentation to introduce me to the class, therefore it had to be memorable!

The dean of the school described me as grafter and someone who had the attributes to be a art director, I took note of that feedback on the phone and what inspired me as a creative, and nailed it down to my taste of competition and my dream of being at the top of my profession, a world champion, a dream of going the distance, ROCKY!

Therefore I made a ROCKY spoof and dubbed it THE PITS, the titled inspired after the venue I would be presenting in, this consisted of a poster to build the hype up and to leave my mark, and a training montage video to make the hype even more bigger, which will finally conclude with me challenging one of the school's students down to a One Minute Brief head to head!

It all went to plan, the posters and the video, with the presentation and the interview day as a whole going better then I expected, I made a wave with a teacher of the school tweeting my presentation on Twitter, and a couple of students approaching me after, congratulating me and saying I had balls to do I want did on stage, one student even went as far as to say he would be very surprised if I did not get in!

So it all looks promising, but you can never be too sure, I will find out on Tuesday or Thursday through phone call by the dean, if I have got in or not, I am just in limbo at the moment! I think its best if I start contacting the Watford course if my date for the interview is coming any sooner, I can not wait!!! I just hope my future is resolved soon thats all, where am I going next year, so I can drive 100% behind it!

Thanks for reading, peace out!
