The Wolf of Culture Street

I have recently returned to tumblr releasing a new blog titled 'The Wolf of Culture Street' inspired by Mother London's 'Recuperate', for now on I will be posting my everyday hit of culture on this blog, balancing the books out for 'Tony I want in!' to focus on the work I produce!

So if you are interested in what I find interesting in everyday culture, please follow me on tumblr! The blog was also made to be a resource for my projects, it could be useful for you too!

OMB - 'Go Sober for October' for MacMillan Cancer Support

After very positive feedback for this peach of a idea, I might try and produce more physical interactive work in a similar ethos to the creative agency Crispin Porter + Bogusky!

P.S. Faye trying to be sober at Freshers is like trying to be clean in a farmyard, you can't do it! unnnnnnnlesssss your in a futuristic clean bubble specially designed by Fairy!

SNAP AD (A stroll through the neighbourhood)

I would like to introduce a partner to forward this idea, but somehow I think this idea will evolve more then a ideal for advertising, her SNAP saids it all, the use of composition and interaction with the SNAP gave me ideas, that is why I chose her as a partner, find people you can learn from, thats how you build a team!

OMB inspired me to create 'Selfie Commercial' and then 'SNAP AD' was born!

Here is my OMB entry from yesterday 'Mouth Wash', I have being doing this nearly everyday since I entered the realm of OMBLEs, posting my entries on this blog, it was getting too repetitive! but it was warming up my head for a grand idea and it came through this mouth wash ad, it gained favour among creatives, and these tweets between me and Nick & James who run OMB lit up a light bulb in my head!

I then realised I had discovered a new idea of creating adverts, through the art of selfies through the smart phone, anyone could do it, and sell a service or a product with a face that suited the language of whatever they were selling! A human connection of visual communication but also a popular trend! I straight away set up a fb page and began creating and posting selfie commercials of myself on the page (as vain as that sounds) spreading the word of this hopefully groundbreaking idea!!

Here is one from my creative friend Antonia advertising Red Bull!

Today Selfie Commercial transformed into SNAP AD, the reason why is I realised as I really began to think about this fresh point of view in constructing creative advertising, is that the app Snapchat which I have been using as of late to construct my advertising ideas, is a template to really make you think simple about advertising a product, and there are many pointers to the app to prove this -

1. You can only write one line of copy (message) to each snap you do, making you think hard to create a simple but effective headline for whatever you are selling!

2. The visual has to fit and be clear within the boundaries of the snap (phone screen) like the boundaries of a frame you draw on a layout pad, again making you think hard on what and how you should take your snap. (Now I know people will say, well take a photo of a advert you have drawn on layout pad, but that destroys the game of this idea, you are cheating yourself of becoming a better creative, for a creative can work under the constrains of the client, and I feel this is a good excise to build you up for that! Because lets face it, it won't really be a SNAP AD.)

3. Finally when your snap is complete you can test it by simply sending it out to friends, how Snapchat works is you can only view the snap in under 5 seconds, you will know if your SNAP AD is effective if it can communicate to the audience (you're friends) under that time scale!

In conclusion the idea of SNAP AD is to train the creative in creating very simple work that can communicate the product or service quickly! LESS IS MORE! Basically Snapchat is a template and whatever ad you create off it can be touched up into a finished advert! I hope by working through this 'method' that my advertising will be dead simple and modern to a very visually natured generation! Here is one I have just done right now against Breast Cancer!

Concerning writing on the visual with the pen tool to extend the message, I reckon this would be fine only if it was needed and kept the balance of simplicity, but I think I would put this under the same breath as the visual, in conclusion, all that matters is if the advert communicates quickly under the snapchat template (constraints)! I think SNAP AD really integrates your thinking with your surroundings, making you see beyond the phone in your hand for where that next idea could be, setting up like a photographer the next shot! A good cultural detector you will become in time (yoda speak)! Anyhow thanks for reading through and I hope you can join me in producing some SNAP ADs in the future, here is the link to the page -

PEACE OUT!!!

P.S. I just want to say that Snapchat is the next-gen advertising platform!

OMB - Transfer Deadline Day

God these fast notepad ideas are been going on long enough, I wanted to do something FRESH! So for this theme 'Transfer Deadline Day' I did BREAKING NEWS tweets of fellow creatives moving to other agencies like players to clubs, that got people involved on OMB and I was dubbed a 'cheeky lad' yay!
